SURVEYING - Commercial and Industrial Surveys

The following surveys offered throughout the UK, are tailored for the development, maintenance and management of Commercial, Industrial & Public Buildings.

Condition Assessment
This is not a 'BUILDING SURVEY' but is a broad appraisal from floor level or readily accessible vantage points only.

The report gives a broad picture of the general condition and state of repair of a building and its services with anticipated costs for repair or upgrading presented in a 5-year program.

The building and service elements will be categorised:
  • A (As new)
  • B (Operationally sound)
  • C (Needing repair/replacement soon)
  • D (Unacceptable)
An assessment of the period before the element deteriorates to its next lower category will be given, together with a broad cost to repair or upgrade to maintainable standards.

Accessibility Assessment
Buildings should be designed for access and use by everyone, not only the able-bodied. This can apply to new buildings as well as to existing service providers. Since 1996 it has been unlawful for service providers to discriminate against disabled people by either being unable to serve them or offering a less favourable service. And of course disability covers a wide range of difficulties, including those with limited mobility and restricted sight or hearing.

To ensure that buildings are accessible, service providers should first of all carry out an ACCESS AUDIT. This will then form the basis for considering how accessibility can be improved to deal with the wide range of problems that the law seeks to remove. Our service offers the Access Audit followed by a schedule of proposed improvements, which can be phased to bring your premises to the required level to comply with the law.

Asset Register
An Asset Register is a comprehensive database of maintainable or insurable items in a building on a room-by-room basis including for example, fire extinguishers, electrical fittings, boilers and even floor and wall surface finishes. We can either build you a full Asset Register from scratch based on our VDS Estate Management Software or survey and update existing records.

Estate Records Survey
A compilation, including updating as necessary, of existing plans and records together with a MEASURED BUILDING SURVEY of all buildings without plans to produce comprehensive and up to date records drawings. The survey is produced on our VDS Estate Management Software.
